A six-year-old girl was critically hurt Tuesday evening in an auto-pedestrian collision on Highway 10 about a mile south of the US 6 interchange.
Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said the youngster, whose name was not released, apparently darted into the path of a southbound vehicle and was hit in the middle of the lane.
The accident happened at about 5:20 p.m.
"There was no suspicion of impairment or distraction on the part of the driver," Johnson stated. He identified the driver as Sue Wiler, 47, no address given.
The vehicle was a 2011 Ford Explorer.
The girl was transported by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake, where she was reported in critical but stable condition Wednesday afternoon.
