Manti-La Sal National Forest
Monticello Ranger District
The Manti-La Sal National Forest, Moab Ranger District proposes
to approve the following water development located in Section 31,
T26S, R25E, SLB&M:
Applicant proposes to develop an existing spring and appropriate
0.25 acre-foot of water per year (Water Right Number 05-3397) with a
spring box using only overflow water for domestic use. The box is
designed to allow normal flows to run through the box and down the
channel while capturing high flows during spring runoff and storm
events. From the box, a 1 inch poly pipe will be installed above
ground for approximately 1000 feet to private land. Only hand tools
will be used to install the box and pipe. This project is designed to
have minimal impact on the environment. The Forest is currently
conducting an environmental review and will include design features to
miminize impacts to vegetation, wildlife, cultural resources, and
other natural resources.
It is anticipated that a Categorical Exclusion under 36 CFR
220.6(e)(3) will authorize the issuance of this permit. If you need
further information you may contact Joel Nowak at the Monticello
Ranger District, telephone (435) 636-3364. For location maps and
