Everyone is smiling as they display their new recordable story book. Soldiers of the 624th Engineers Unit , along with their families met in December for a Family Support Get Together. The soldiers of the 624th Engineers Unit will be deployed in June of 2012, to Afghanistan, for 12 months. The event was planned under the direction of the Family Readiness Group, which consists of spouses of the unit soldiers and volunteers. Their goal is to strengthen bonds between families with departing parents and spouses. The event was a great success, and included dinner, prizes, and a visit from Santa. The evening was made special by a donation for each of the children, from Castleview Hospital. The gift was a recordable story book! Departing parents can record their child's favorite story, in their own voices, to be enjoyed over the next 12 months of separation. Castleview Hospital was the group's largest sponsor.
