Spencer's Wishes breaks fund-raising record
Keith Mason and Phil Roundy help raise funds for Spencer's Wishes during the radio-thon.
Once again this year, 100 Castle Valley children will be treated with a Christmas to remember thanks to the efforts of Spencer's Wishes and their fundraising partners in Carbon County. Every year Phil Roundy and his wife Pam start the season's fund raising efforts anew with a radio-thon hosted by Castle Country Radio. This year's event took place on Nov. 16 and in less than seven hours more than $23,000 had been raised by the local charity. "It was an amazing experience," said Amanda Holly, morning host at KARB Kickin' Country and host of the radio-thon. "The fact that we were able to break the fund raising record this year was an over the top experience for me. Working with Spencer's Wishes is amazing." After the radio-thon, Spencer's Wishes set up shop at the Eastern Utah Community Credit Union where additional funds were raised and further donations were sought over the airwaves by KUSA. By Friday, Nov. 18 Spencer's Wishes and their partners had raised a grand total of $27,386, a new record for the event.
