The USU Eastern womens basketball team may have started the season 0-2, but they may have just needed a few games to work out all of the early season kinks.
For the early part of the season, through the beginning of next month, USU Eastern will be playing on the road. A lot.
This past week, the Lady Eagles played three games and came away with a 2-1 record, getting their first wins of the season.
The team competed in games held in Salt Lake City over the weekend.
In their first game on Thursday, the Lady Eagles faced off against Northwestern Wyoming and were able to secure a 63-44 victory.
Sophomore Priscila Santos started off a monster weekend with a double-double getting 31 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Hailee Parry added 10 points.
The Lady Eagles continued play on Friday as they matched up against Midland College. Midland took a 15 point lead into halftime and built on it in the second half as they handed the Lady Eagles their third loss of the season 69-47.
Santos again led Eastern with 29 points and nine rebounds.
In their third game of the week on Saturday, the Lady Eagles played Olds College. They bounced back from a tough game against Midland to post a blowout win, 90-48.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 27 point halftime lead and pushed the lead to 42 with the help of 25 steals.
Santos put the cherry on top of a big weekend with a a 46-point and eight rebound performance. Freshman Amy Arbon narrowly missed a triple-double as she finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and nine steals.
Freshmen Caitlin Nelson and Shelby Carson also had big games for the Lady Eagles as they finished with a combined 18 points and 16 rebounds.
The Lady Eagles will hit the road again for a set of game in Casper, WY, starting on Thursday through Saturday.
