A broken 12 inch water main near Mont Harmon Junior High let loose a lot of water and created tons of mud on Thursday morning.
A deep pit about 10 deep and 20 feet wide was dug up around the broken main on Friday morning. A Nielson Construction pump truck was busy helping to clear out the mess created by the break in the water main.
Because of the situation, the Carbon School District closed down the school on Thursday, sending students home for the rest of the day. The school district also announced that school would be cancelled on Friday as crews will continue to work on the pipes. Activities at Mont Harmon, including a scheduled school dance, were cancelled as well.
