SWAC honors two USU Eastern volleyball players

USU Eastern's Joy Malone, a sophomore middle blocker from Price, leaps high to attempt a kill from a game earlier this season. Malone garnered SWAC honorable mention honors last week.

The Scenic West Athletic Conference announced their first and second all-conference selections, with two USU Eastern volleyball players garnering honors.

Golden Eagles Miranda Parkinson and Joy Malone, were named to the second team all-conference and an honorable mention honors respectively.

Parkinson, a sophomore outside hitter from Lehi, led Eastern with 195 kills this season. Parkinson also finished with 14 service aces and 175 digs.

Malone, a sophomore middle blocker from Price, finished with 146 kills and 33 digs.

USU Eastern (6-21 overall, 3-7 SWAC) was given the number four seed during the Region 18 conference tournament held at North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, last weekend. Eastern completed their season with a three-set loss to Snow College in the first round of the tournament, which was eventually won by the College of Southern Idaho.
