Carbon's Nielsen completes career as a Dino at state tourney

Carbon High's Jaylee Nielsen finally completed her tennis career as a Lady Dino at the state tournament in Provo.

Nielsen played a first round match against Stansbury's Hannah Frazier, the number three ranked player from region 11.

Nielsen was able to advance onto the second round of the tournament after defeating Frazier in two sets, 6-3 and 6-1.

In her second round matchup, Nielsen was pitted against Judge Memorial's Emily Murnin, who easily advanced after beating her first round opponent 6-0, 6-0 in two sets.

The number one singles player from Judge Memorial put in a repeat performance from her first round match, as Murnin defeated Nielsen 6-0, 6-0.

The loss eliminated Nielsen from the state tournament and ended the senior's tennis career as a Lady Dino.

Head coach Tom Alleman said everyone on the team played hard and competed all throughout the 2011 season.

In addition to advancing to the second round, Alleman said that Nielsen and fellow teammate Elise Vogel both made the Academic All-State team.
