The Carbon Cross Country team enjoyed the fruits of having the home field advantage for the only time the regular season.
The Carbon girls finished second as a team and the boys took fourth at the combination region and invitational run. Against region teams the Dino runners took first for the girls and third for the boys.
Individual finishes had Carbon's Garrett Marsing scorching the course for the boys with a top finish of 16:10. Regan Powell took close second place in the girl's race with a personal best of 18:49, losing only to the top Uintah runner.
Coach Tellise Allen was very happy with all her runners. The course was at the Carbon Country Club and plotted out at just over three miles in length.
For the boys Justin Hepworth finished in second for the Dinos with 12th overall in 17:18. Then it was Skyler Larsen in 24th at 18:07 and Luke Olsen in 28 at 18:15. Brandon Hepworth and Thory VanDyke also had solid runs.
In the girls race it was Rachel Goodrich taking fifth overall in 19:57 not far behind Powell to grab the Dinos second spot. She was followed by Susannah Ohlwiler in 11th at 20:20 and Diana Olsen at 20:54. Madi Black rounded off the Dino girls with a 24:36.
The team also ran in the Wasatch relays on Saturday. It is run in the same format as the grass relays. Carbon did not field a full slate of seven as most teams, but the four runners coach Allen took from the girls and the boys did very well.
Marsing again had a scorching run and actually beat his time on the home course. He took 3rd overall with a personal best on a hilly grass course. Powell also did well for the girls with a 4th overall finish, leading her team to fourth place as a team even though they were short runners.
These wins are impressive as most of the schools competing were 4A and 5A schools, according to Allen.
Carbon runners head to Moab today for an Invitational Meet.
