The brooms were out for the Lady Eagles last Saturday when they opened conference play against Colorado Northwestern with a decisive three set victory over the Spartans. USU Eastern won 25-8, 25-15 and 25-12 to start their conference record off at 1-0.
The Lady Eagles made quick work of CNCC in the first set. Midway through the second set, the coaches called a time out to settle the team down as the seemed to lose focus and turn the ball over with unforced errors. But they pulled it back together and finished off the set and went on to take the next to win the match.
Kylie Cordon led the Eagles with 13 kills, Danee Merrell dished 25 set assists and Abigale Ericson scrambled for 11 defensive digs in the three set match.
USU-Eastern will be home again this weekend with a Friday match-up with Snow College at 7 p.m. They will then take on SLCC at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the B-DAC.
