The Pioneer Woman now has her rightful place near the old Pioneer cabins and among the trees and green grass that makes up Pioneer Park in Price. Eleanor and Cecil Jorgensen, the two surviving children of Florence Virginia Horsley Jorgensen, pose beside her statue after unveiling it.
The Daughters of Utah Pioneers held a re-dedication ceremony Saturday afternoon. The ceremony brought out members of the DUP, Price City councilmembers, religious leaders and other members of the community. The original dedication and unveiling of the first statue happened back in 1931. The previous statue had been missing for many years.
Florence Virginia Horsley Jorgensen was a member of the first DUP camp in Carbon County.
The bronze statue was sculpted by local artist Gary Prazen.
