Helper's Day of Service proved to be such a success that representatives of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is thinking about repeating it again next year. John Daniels and Keith Cox told the city council that more than 450 volunteers showed up July 23 for cleaning the Helper Parkway and Castle Gate Cemetery and personal services for aged and infirm people.
A future event will be different, however. July 23 was awfully hot for heavy work, so the next projects will probably be better if they're scheduled before the summer heat or before deer hunt poses a schedule conflict, they said.
The council praised the effort and said future service days are welcome.
