Five Cal Ripkin teams from Carbon headed to play in their respective state tournaments. Three of the Carbon teams will continue their journey.

Carbon 8-year-olds, 11 year olds and the 12 year olds are 2011 state champions from Utah.

They each head to different locations for the Pacific Southwest region. There will teams from Utah, Arizona, California, Nevada, Guam and Hawaii.

Shane Henry is over the Cal Ripkin program this year and said that all three teams are playing well and have a great chance at success as they head to their next tournaments.

"It would be nice to have a team from Carbon win and head to the World series. It is much tougher since the change over to Cal Ripkin from the old WBBA. There are more teams and much more difficult to get past the regional play," he said.

The eight year olds will will head up to Riverton. The 11-year-olds will go to Beaver. The 12-year-olds get to travel to Surprise, Ariz., for their pacific Southwest regional play.

All tournament action will take place July 24-29.
