Calvin Taylor, pianist and recording artist, will perform a live concert of sacred music May 26 at the Seventh-day Adventist Chruch, 2821 S. Highway 10, at 7 p.m.
He holds degrees in music from Oberlin Conservatory, the University of Michigan and University of Kentucky. In addition to authoring several books on music, he has composed a symphony and has toured many countries to perform concerts.
With an unusually large hand span of more than 1- 1/2 octaves, Taylor presents sounds and colors at the keyboard which would normally require four hands.
He began playing piano by ear when he was five years old, and started formal lessons on his seventh birthday.
He also studied other instruments and was playing as a church organist at the age of 14. While in high school, Taylor was a member of both the Los Angeles Junior Philharmonic and the Southwest Youth Symphony.
There is no charge for admission. A freewill offering will be received.
The public is invited to the performance.
