Local ATV rider helps team win pro race in Mexico

Jorie Williams, Kenny Sanford, Brandon Brown and Robbie Mitchell.

On March 13, Price resident Robbie Mitchell got a chance to ride his ATV in the Baja 250 desert off road race.

He was part of a four member team from Washington state and they took both first place in the 450 CC and under class and won the overall Pro ATV title that is the combined 450 CC and under and the 450 CC and over classes.

Mitchell has been riding ATV's for competition since 2004. He has been competing in the World Off Road Championship series. That is where is met his teammates for the Baja races.

When they had an opening for a fourth racer, they contacted Mitchell to join them. He jumped at the chance.

"I've never been out of the country and it sure is another world down there,"Mitchell said of his experience.

He has been asked to go back down with the team and race in both the Baja 500 and the Baja 1000. He is seriously considering that offer, especially the Baja 1000.
