PRICE/AZTEC, NM - Dr. Joseph Salvatore passed away at his home in Aztec, N.M. on March 17, 2011, at the age of 86.

Dr. Salvatore was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 22, 1924. Following his time in the Army during World War II, he attended Columbia University on the GI Bill. He then moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah where he earned his Doctorate in Psychology.

He moved to Price in 1958, where he was a Professor at the College of Eastern Utah until his retirement in 1988. He taught psychology, anthropology, sociology, social studies, statistics, study skills, French, German and Italian during his 30 years at CEU. Following his retirement, he spent time in Colorado, and then moved to Aztec, N.M.

He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, brothers John, Jimmy and Frank, and most recently by his beloved oldest sister, Frances "Vee"Carlson. He is survived by nieces Peggy Hull and Jackie Muro, grand-nephews, his brother Fred, his younger sister, Helen Gioia, and by his close friends and family, Natalie Salvatore and Shannon Dee.

Dr. Salvatore was an avid reader whose house was "full of books,"and he loved his animals, good food and spending time with those he loved. We will miss him dearly, and honor his memory with the love and kindness he taught.
