Kenzie Cave pitched a good game, backed up by solid defense as the Lady Dinos shut out South Sevier 10-0.
The Lady Dinos got their bats rolling early and often as they easily defeated South Sevier on Thursday when they traveled to Monroe for a non-region matchup, winning 10-0 in five innings.
The Dinos left nothing to doubt as they posted six runs in the first inning.
Kenzie Cave took the mound for Carbon and made sure the South Sevier got none of them back. Cave ended the game with a complete shut out and the win.
Carbon added a pair of runs in the second and then one in both the third and fifth inning to end the game in five.
Megan Tubbs was very productive at the plate getting four hits in the game. Coach Tony Pinedo pointed out that it was a good team effort and they also got a lot of hits from a lot of players to take pressure off themselves with that six run early cushion.
He added, "Kenzie (Cave) pitched a good game and she had a lot of good defense behind her as well. It kept them (South Sevier) off balance the whole game."
Carbon heads to Richfield on Tuesday and then Juab on Thursday for another pair of non region games.
The Lady Dinos will host American Fork at home for a double header on Friday at the Carbon Softball field with first pitch at 3:30 p.m.
