Lady Dino golfers tee off

Looking at the talent he had returning, Girls Golf Coach Kenji Otani predicted that the fight for the region 10 title would be between Park City and Carbon.

After the first region match of the season, it appears he may be right.

The first region match was held at Mountain View Golf Course and is the site of this year's state tournament. It was cold, windy and a little wet - in other words normal weather for girls golf.

The Lady Dinos played very well in spite of the conditions, ending with 93 points to finish just one point behind first place Park City's 94.

Union was third with with a team total of 59 and Wasatch took fourth with 34. The girls use a modified Stableford scoring so a higher score is better.

Lexi Gagon was medalist with 35 points and Cassandra Hawkinson and Haley Shiner both played well making posting 29 points.

Shelby Wilson, Katie Felice and Sam Jones rounded out the Carbon Varsity team and all made solid contributions.

Otani added,"I am very proud of my girls and I don't want to look too far forward, but we are going to have a good season and we can't wait for State."

The Lady Dinos golf team only home match of the season has been changed from this week, March 31 to next Wednesday, April 6, at the Carbon Country Club golf course because of spring break issues with some school involved.
