Lady Eagles carry momentum into win over Snow College

Sun Advocate sports reporter

It has been a season of tough breaks for the Lady Eagles. They lost several key players before the season ever started to injury and illness. The found a little more of that bad luck as they lost 50-47 to Colorado Northwestern Community College two weeks ago. But this weekend they stepped it up and played tough against Salt Lake Community College even though they lost 75-66. But then they carried the momentum they had into the game with Snow College on Saturday and beat the Badgers 73-62 for the first time this season.

The Lady Eagles have take both previous games against the Spartans, and it looked like they would get the sweep. Priscila Santos was having a superb game until she turned her ankle and was unable to contribute. The game still only came down to three points, but the loss was crushing.

Santos finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds. She was helped out by Bruna Deichmann with 12 points.

Coach Dave Paur really put his team through their paces in the following weeks practice and they came out strong against the top ranked Bruins. After falling behind in the first, the eagles pulled back within six at the break. In the second half, they came out and continued to make runs at the lead. A few missed shots were the difference in the outcome of the game as the EU defense kept the Lady Bruins from running away with the game.

Santos had another big offensive effort with 28 points and Deichmann added 15.

With the season running out, EU put it all on the table against Snow. One of the problems the Lady Eagles have had in a few games was the inability to finish the game off. On Saturday they made sure they finished and walked off the court with the win.

Santos posted yet another double-double with 23 points and 10 boards. Deichmann finished with 18 points to help carry the team to victory.

EU ends their regular season on the road at Southern Idaho on Thursday and Northern Idaho on Friday
