Golden Eagles hit century mark in win over Snow

Trevor Bamgartner had 12 points and 8 assists helping lead CEU to a 106-79 win over Snow College.

The Golden Eagles played two conference games over the weekend and came away with a split beating Snow College and falling to Salt Lake Community College.

CEU played Snow College on Friday night and came away with a 106-79 win in conference action. The Golden Eagles hit the century mark for the fifth time this season. Brady Hurst led the scoring barrage with 19 points and 7 rebounds as seven players scored in double digits. James Kinney finished with 15, Maxim Zakharov had 14 points, Trevor Bamgartner had 12 and 8 assists, Bryant Crowder had 12 points, Jonathan Mills had 10 points and 8 rebounds and Cameron Evans had 10 points. Zakharov shot a perfect 100 percent from the field.

On Saturday afternoon the Golden Eagles hosted SLCC but came up short falling for the first time in conference play 84-76. SLCC came into the game ranked #21 in the nation. CEU played from behind through most of the game but they were able to forge a tie at 71-71 late in the second half. But the momentum quickly came to an end, as the Bruins hit a three-pointer taking back the lead and pulled with the win hitting all 10 free throws in the final minutes.

Zakharov led the Golden Eagles with 17 points and Bamgartner had 14 points, Kinney had 12 points and 6 assists and Evans had 11 points and 6 rebounds.

CEU is now 14-3 (2-1 in conference play) on the season. SLCC and Snow College lead the conference with records of 3-1 and CEU is tied for second place with College of Southern Idaho. North Idaho and Colorado Northwestern Community College are tied for last at 0-3.

CEU now travels up to Idaho as they play North Idaho and College of Southern Idaho tonight and Saturday.
