Newspaper distributes 'Fire in the Hole' checks

Fire officials from around the county met at the Price Fire Department on Monday to be presented checks from the Sun Advocate for the money that was raised during the Fire in the Hole golf tournament in October. Five checks, each in the amount of $863.08, were presented to Mike Zamantakis, Helper Fire Chief, John Powell, Wellington Fire Chief, Cody Valdez of the East Carbon Fire Department, Gene Madrid Fire, Sunnyside Fire Department Chief and Paul Bedont, Fire Chief of the Price Fire Department. The presentation was made by Richard Shaw, publisher of the Sun Advocate. The departments say they will use the money for various things they need in their departments from equipment to fire clothing.
