Lady Dinos continue their winning ways

Carbon's Kristin Jewkes puts pressure on Emery in the back court. The Carbon girls are getting good results with the full court press early in the season.

Just one night after demolishing the North Sanpete Hawks, the Lady Dinos did it again down in Emery. Going into the game Carbon was ranked third and Emery fourth in the 3A standings. The final score was not that close as Carbon shut down the Spartans 66-47.

The Dinos built up a 10 point lead by the half. They did not come out of the locker room on cruise control, but burst open the game with a 21-10 third quarter to all but seal up their second straight win. Carbon continues to play aggressive and picked Emery's pocket 13 times in the contest.

Tia Pappas was unstoppable as she stuffed in 27 points and nine rebounds six assists and a steal. Miranda Averett had a big game coming off the bench with 18 points and two steals and an assist. Mariah Pollock added 11 points and two assists. Rachel Scoggins picked six steals and four assists.

The Carbon JV squad will take on Altamont's varsity at home this Tuesday night with a game time of 5:15. The team will head to Fruita, Colo. to play in a tournament over the weekend.
