The Eastern Utah men's basketball team headed south for three games over the weekend. They rolled over all three teams and kept their winning streak intact at 5-0 for the young season. They beat Chandler-Gilbert 77-63 on Thursday. Then went on to defeat Central Arizona 94-77 and Eastern Arizona 87-86 for the weekend sweep.

The Eagles opened things on Thursday vs. Chandler-Gilbert, as EU won at the Desert Classic in Yuma, Ariz., against Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Two Eagles had double-doubles. Jonathan Mills hit 13 points and 14 rebounds. Brady Hurst followed with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Cameron Evans just missed a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

On Friday, Eastern Utah recorded their fourth straight win beating Eastern Arizona. Renan Custodio had a break out game as he led the team with 26 points and 10 rebounds for a double/double. Custodio hit 5 for 7 from three point land and 5 for 7 free throws on his way to an amazing 72.7 percent shooting from the field.

To help things out, Jonathan Mills had another strong performance with his own double/double as he scored 16 points and pulled in 13 rebounds in just the first half. He finished the game with 25 minutes of play time and 20 points and 17 rebounds. Cameron Evans added 13 points.

Coach Barton was pleased with the leadership of Mills as he buckled down and proved to be a strong consistent force for any opposing team to deal with and an example for the rest of the team to follow.

Finishing up on Saturday Nov. 13 it was the third game in three nights. Coach Barton knew his team might be tired against the Gila Monsters and might not play as well as they could. He urged them to compete and to play hard. Play hard the team did as they remain undefeated and record their fifth straight win of the preseason. Foul trouble hampered the team but they managed to play through it to get the one point win.

Freshman Maxim Zakharov from Russia scored 30 points to lead the team. Brady Hurst added 17 points. Point guard Trevor Bamgartner put up 17 point, 8 rebounds and dished out four assists.

The team will have a pair of home games on Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. at the B-DAC.
