Eastern men's basketball opens preseason with a pair of wins

Jonathan Mills floats one up and in as Eastern blows out Impact Academy 108-70 to open their season

Sporting a new twist on an old name, the team now just know as Eastern, picked up where they left off last season as they opened up with two decisive wins. On Friday night in front of over 500 fans Eastern dominated Impact Academy out of Las Vegas 108-70. They followed that up with a 108-94 victory over Atwater Select on Saturday afternoon.

On Friday night it was an offensive show with Eastern chucking up three's. They hit 50 percent from beyond the arc making 13. The Eagles had five players in double figures led by Brady Hurst who had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Nine of the boards were offensive rebounds.

Other players who had a good night were Cameron Evans with 14, Neveij Walters, 13 and Brandon Bamgartner with 10.

On Saturday Eastern was just as hot from the arc as they hit 11 of 17 shots. Bamgartner went 4 of five deep. He was also one of eight Eagles to rack up double figure in points. Evans put up 14 points and 11 rebounds and Jonathan Mills added 11 points and 10 rebounds to give both players a double-double. Bamgartner had 14 points as well. Alfred Ingram and Aaron Hawk-Harris contributed 12 each. Rean Custodio, Maxim Zaharov and Brandon Williams rounded things out with 10 each.

The team will take to the highway for some road games before returning to Price for home games on November 19 at 7 p.m. and November 20 at 3:30 p.m.
