Susan M. Christensen
Susan M. Christensen 1933 ~ 2010 Susan Martha Phillips born to Florence McPhie and Reese Phillips (both deceased), peacefully returned to our Heavenly Father on Oct. 16, 2010. Due to the untimely death of her mother she lived with her aunt and uncle, Tom and Lydia Bendall (both deceased). She grew up in a loving family home and graduated form Carbon High in 1951. She married W. Ross Stephenson in August 1954, later sealed in the Jordan River Temple. After his untimely death she served an LDS mission in the Pacific Northwest afterwards attending Brigham Young University. She lovingly raised three children, Mark, Deena (Ely), and Ann (Curtis) Detton. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Special Education at the University of Utah and Master of Education at Westminster College and taught at Granite School District schools for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of the LDS church where she served faithfully in many callings including the Ward Choir. She also sang with the Bountiful Chapter of Sweet Adelines. Her love of music and influence on her family will be felt for generations. She led a life patterned after our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was charitable to the poor, fed the hungry, and helped all those in need. She is survived by one sister, Sharon Richwine of California and preceded in death by another sister, Janice Banker of Arizona; her three children, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. She was beautiful, gracious and cultured and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Hunter 20th Ward chapel located at 7035 W. 3605 S., West Valley City where family and friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment at Provo City Cemetery immediately following services.
