Brett Riche

Brett Riche, 2004 Carbon High School graduate and Southern Utah University (SUU) graduate, has been admitted to dental school. Brett, an SUU Biology major with a Chemistry minor, has begun attending Midwestern University's College of Dental Medicine in Glendale, Ariz., this fall. Brett is married to Janeal Needles Riche and his parents are Happy and Denna Riche of Price.

Gaining entry into a professional school is a big accomplishment, requiring a huge commitment from undergraduate students. In addition to obtaining an academic degree, students must also build an impressive resume including difficult classes and valuable experiences. Brett was an active participant in the Utah Rural Health Scholars Program at SUU, which helped him reach this goal.

Launched six years ago, the Utah Rural Health Scholars program is the first of its kind in the Western states designed to prepare rural students for dental and medical school and graduate healthcare professions. It has greatly contributed to SUU's record breaking acceptance rates.

The RHS program is part of the Utah Center for Rural Health (UCRH), based at Southern Utah University, and works with rural communities to increase access to healthcare through education. UCRH acts as a liaison between higher education, health profession programs and rural communities.
