County Fair hits full swing

Carbon County Fair volunteer Cherokee Sartori logs in exhibit entries at the Home Arts and 4H show in the Fairgrounds Events Center. Hundreds of entries for crafts, gardening and canning are on display.

Garden produce, flowers, intricate woodwork, home canned goods, paintings, sculptures and other creations began flowing into the Fairgrounds Events Center Tuesday.

It is time for another Carbon County Fair.

Judging for the entries in the 4H - Home Arts categories was Wednesday and the exhibit, with all ribbons attached, will open for public viewing Thursday. Hours on Thursday and Friday are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Friday will be filled with activities, beginning with Animal Expo judging at 8:30 a.m.

There will be a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Live entertainment will be on stage from noon to 6 p.m. Also at noon the Life-Flight helicopter is scheduled to arrive.

There will be plenty for the kids to enjoy. "Utah's Magician" Lance Nielsen will be performing magic and humor, RJ the Clown will be there, as will the Carbon Rec climbing wall.

A traditional hit is the Division of Wildlife Resources fishing pond stocked with catchable trout. The Highway Patrol will have a crash demonstration.

Archers will get to compete between noon and 6 p.m.

At 6 p.m. a co-ed softball tournament will begin at the ball fields near the Fairgrounds.

Entertainment will continue until 11 p.m.

Castle Country Rodeo Action is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, a mountain bike fun ride will convene at the Events Center at 7:30 a.m. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. visitors can watch motocross action at the course nearby.

The Men's Softball Tournament begins at 9 a.m.

For those interested in picking up ideas for outdoor cooking, the Dutch Oven Cook-off will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Potential aviators will enjoy the Model Air Show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Baby Contest check in is at 1:30 a.m. with judging beginning at 2 p.m.

There will be a Toughman competition at 5 p.m. with more rodeo at 7 p.m.

Helper Idol preliminaries are scheduled for 6 p.m.
