The local swimmers that competed in the Games of the West.
This month a group of seven local swimmers competed at the Games of the West in Cedar City. All western states were invited.
The youngest competitor from Price was Taycie Davis. She competed in the 10 and under age group. Davis swam events she has never swam before only because in summer league competition is not offered. In the 100 meter breast she placed seventh, 10th in the 50 meter butterfly and 11th in the100 meter free.
Three local swimmers competed in the 11-12 group. Ali Heath had an impressive meet while setting a new record. She took home the gold in the 200 butterfly and the 50 butterfly. Heath grabbed silver in the 100 fly and 400 free, She also took seventh in the 100 free.
Veronica Ibanez posted her best times while taking fourth in the 100 fly, sixth in the 50 fly, ninth in the 50 free, and tenth in the 100 free. Heidi Prettyman finished with three different colored medals. She took gold in the 100 breast, silver in the 50 breast, and bronze in the 200 breast.
In the13-14 group, Brittney Willson garnered silver in the 200 free and 200 back. She captured bronze in both the 100 free and 400 free and fifth in the 100 back.
The masters division 30-34 age group had Jennifer (Berryman) Cluff taking gold in the 1500 and 400 free. Then in the 35-39 category, Shelly Heath captured silver in the 400 free, 50 fly, and 100 free. She also grabbed bronze in the 100 breast and 50 free. Kamra Davis took gold in the 200 back. She followed up by taking silver in the 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 I.M., and 50 back.
The swimmers that placed with a gold or silver earned an invitation to San Diego next year for nationals.
