Helper American Legion opens up season with win

On Monday the Helper American Legion team traveled to Kearns to open their season. They started year off the way Coach Jeff Cisneros hoped they would, with a 6-3 win.

"It was a good way to start things off. Overall I was pleased with our effort and all 19 guys on the roster got a chance to play and contribute," commented Cisneros after the game.

Gage Bigelow started on the mound and got the win for Helper. Bigelow pitched four innings in his his first legion game. Jaren McCourt came on in relief and threw two good innings. Colter Moore shut the game down in the 7th as the closer for Helper.

On offense the team did most of their scoring in the first inning. Julian Tamllos led off with a single followed by a double by Bradon Bolotas. Daniel Peczuh reached on a error by the shortstop and Tamllos scored. Keny Seals then blasted a three run homer and the score was 4-0. Helper only scored once more in the second inning and once again in the 4th.

Helper stands at 1-0 in league play. They travel up to SLC to play Riverton on Wednesday and then they are off to Burley Idaho on Thursday for a three day tournament.
