Carbon Golf

Monday was yet another windy and very cool as the Carbon girl's golf team played their final 18 hole region match at Soldier Hollow Golf Course. Park City won the match with a score of 234, Carbon was second with 172, Wasatch finished third with 143 and Union ended in fourth at 125.

Park City's Sammi Crouch made 87 points and garnered medalist honors once again. Crouch, also won first place in the region in individuals and led Park City to their first place finish in team results for the region.

Carbon was lead by Audra Eaquinto with 59 points, Lexi Gagon shot 56 and Cassandra Hawkinson ended with 57 points. Individually for the region;, Audra Eaquinto finished in a tie for fourth in region, Lexi Gagon finished fifth, Cassandra Hawkinson seventh and Shelby Wilson ninth.

"The girls played a good round in spite of the cold, the wind and some illness. All of these girls have great heart and it was heart and team work that gave Carbon the second place finish in the region," remarked Coach Kenji Otani.

He went on to add,"It has been a difficult season with weather and being in a new region, but we added a lot of talent to the team and we are really looking forward to the State Tournament next week. I have continually said how amazing these girls are and how proud of them I am and they are and I am. What a great and talented group of girls."

Otani summed things up as he remarked, "Tom King and I started this program last year and to go to State the first and second year, of the program, speaks volumes of the talent these girls have. So, cross your fingers for us at State where Kelcy Otani, Lexi Gagon, Audra Eaquinto and Shelby Wilson will play their best, because they always make us proud."
