Carbon's Tanner Gagnon, left, shows off a move as he evades a defender in an earlier game against Richfield. Gagnon scored a goal in each of the last two games for the Dinos. Carbon is hoping to see a lot more scoring from their offense as the season gets underway.
Carbon High soccer coach Patrick Clifford has said from the beginning that his team will struggle until they can find a way to put the ball in the net. So far, that is proving to be true as the Dinos remain winless on the season after dropping their first two region games last week.
The squad began Region 10 action against Union, losing, 4-1 defeat on Wednesday, March 17, and then fell to ALA, 3-1, on Friday, March 19. In both games, first half action did them in.
In the Wednesday match-up, Union found the net three times before the break.
In the second half, both teams managed to put one across for a score. For the Dinos it was Tanner Gagnon who scored.
On Friday against ALA, Carbon was down, 2-0 in the first half of play. Again in the final period, Gagnon found a way to get the Dinos on the board, but too little, too late.
The team has to hit the road again next week for two games.
On Wednesday, March 24, the club will be looking for their first win in a non-region showdown with Grantsville.
