Leonard the Lion, the mascot for RSL Salt Lake, clings to the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy as he is swamped by elementary school children at Carbon High on Tuesday. The soccer franchise is doing an RSL Cup Tour to celebrate winning the Major League Soccer championship last fall.
A represenative of the champions came to Price on Tuesday and they brought with them all the hype and glory that a winning team can have.
REAL Salt Lake fan relations Joseph Allen and Leonardo the Lion, the team mascot, showed up on cue and brought the championship trophy with them.
The crowd consisted of fourth and six graders from around the county's elementary schools and they were loud as they cheered on the mascot and some of their teachers who came out to run some soccer drills with team officials.
Music and a video made up the rest of the program as everyone had a good time celebrating, and thinking about the upcoming season.
