Eagles hit cold streak

Sun Advocate sports reporter

The red hot CEU Golden Eagles cooled off like a January cold snap as they are in the midst of a four game losing streak. On Thursday Jan. 14, the team lost in overtime to the College of Southern Idaho 83-77. Then on Saturday they dropped their fourth game to Northern Idaho by the score of 66-62.

On Thursday, CEU came out strong and held the lead throughout the half. They let CSI edge back into the game and tie it up. With seconds ticking off the clock, CEU could not pull the trigger and get a shot off before time expired. In overtime, CSI doubled them up, 12-6 to get the win. It was the second overtime game for the two teams this season.

Six Eagles fouled out before it was over. Nick Thompson led CEU's scorer with 20 points. Vander Jorquiem added 12 while Isiah Williams had 11. Renan Custodio, finished his night with 10.

On Saturday, the Eagles again jumped out to a quick start and led by as many as 15 before hitting the wall. NIC outscored them by 11 in the final period to take the win by four. For Coach Chris Craig, it was another opportunity squandered.

Michael Glover and Jonathan Mills were top scorers for the Eagles with 13 each.

CEU now has dropped to third in the conference. They are also out of the top 25 rankings after been up as high as 22.

They plan on snapping this losing streak when Colorado Northwestern comes to town on Saturday night. Tip-off at the B-DAC will be at 5 p.m. after the women finish their game.
