The Lady Dinos were looking for a win after Wasatch snapped their winning streak last week.

Park City was their victim as Carbon exploded in the fourth quarter to finish them off 54-39.

Carbon took the lead in the first quarter by four. The Miners hung in for three quarters and the Dino lead was a near three points heading into the final period of play.

Then Carbon's offense stepped it up and doubled up Park City as they outscored them 24-12 to leave no doubt about the outcome at the end of the match-up.

Tia Pappas hit 15 points and had nine steals.

She was the Carbon player of the game. The Garbage Girl honors went to Miranda Averett who pulled in 12 boards on the night.

"We really got off to a slow start and seemed content to play to their (Park City) level and lead by a point or two most of the game. It was scary and I began to think this was a game we could lose," said Coach Cami Carlson after the game. "I don't know if it was seeing the boys lose their close one or what, but they decided to kick it in in the fourth quarter and played much better. Whatever it what it was, I was glad they did."

Carbon now sits at 1-1 in region 10 action.

The Lady Dino will take on ALA on Friday in the friendly confines of the Carbon High gym with a 5:15 p.m. tip off.

That game will be followed by the boy's facing off against ALA at 7 p.m.
