The art faculty at the College of Eastern Utah Art Department is pleased to announce the sixth annual high school art competition, held in Gallery East on the CEU campus. The competition offers students an opportunity to create noteworthy artwork and affords them a chance to learn how to prepare, frame, and present their work in a juried show with their peers. Gallery director, Noel Carmack, notes that although schools have been notified of this competition, "it's not too late for students to prepare work for entry. We've already juried electronically submitted entries and we're excited to see what comes in before the January 5th deadline."

All artists of high school age (14 to 18 years-old) are eligible to participate, including public high school students, home-schooled students and students attending private schools. They need not be enrolled in an art class to participate.

Entries in any medium will be considered. This includes, but is not limited to: drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, graphic design, digital art, ceramics, sculpture, non-clothing textiles, jewelry, film/video and transmedia work. All entries must be original work created by the artist and completed within the past year.

The deadline for mailed or hand-delivered entries is Jan.5, 2010. Entries will be received at Gallery East on Tuesday, Jan 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more specific requirements, go to the art competition prospectus on Gallery East's web page at: Click on "Eligibility" and "Entries" in the left sidebar.
