Pinnacle boys top Telos

By MICHAEL OVERSON
Sun Advocate reporter

The Pinnacle Canyon Academy boys basketball team played Telos on Friday Dec.11. By the end of the first half the score was tied at 23 points. But the Panthers pulled away for a smooth 65-45 win. Leading the panthers were: Julian Garcia with 19 points, Demetri Hullings with 11 points, six assists, Austin Welch 10 points and Chat Martino with nine points.

During the first half one of Telos' players scored 21 of their 23 points. Once the second half started M.J. Taberna for the Panthers held him to just four points in the second half. Coach Jeff Bowen was really impressed with the execution of pick and rolls that his team showed. He noted that game was probably the best example in his 30 years as a coach. Hitting three 3-pointers within two minutes in the third quarter really blew open the game. After that he was able to make sure that a lot of his players received playing time which made the coaches and players all happy. The team is 3-1 in competition now.
