The home crowd was good for the Lady Eagles as they opened conference play at home against Colorado Northwestern at home on Tuesday night with an 84-70 win. The road was not as kind as they then lost 58-69 to Snow and 74-85 to SLCC over the weekend to open conference action.

On Tuesday CEU took the lead early and never looked back as they pounded CNCC to start SWAC action at 1-0. The team was hitting 50 pecent from the floor in the first half of play. Four players were in double figures for the home team. Kaylie Robinson led the way with 22 points. Stacy Stringham added 14 points and 11 rebounds. Libby Alon hit 13 points and Bruna Deichmann finished with 12.

After feasting on turkey the team hit the road for a Friday meeting with the Badgers from Snow. Snow was sharp, but the Eagles struggled from the line and that kept them out of the game. CEU went seven for 20 from the charity stripe. Deichmann led the effort with 20 points and Robinson threw down 17 and snagged eight rebounds.

A bus ride up the freeway for the Saturday showdown with Salt Lake ended in another loss. This time it was Salt Lake coming out fast and hard in the first half to build a huge lead over the Lady Eagles. But CEU did not quit and had a good second half effort to claw their way back into the game. They came up short. Robinson was a key player in the second half effort with 20 points.

The team has a home stand against both Northern and Southern Idaho this weekend. They open Friday night against NIC at 5:30 p.m. Then they will face CSI on Saturday at 3 p.m. Both games will be followed by the men's match ups.
