The CEU men's basketball team broke their win one, lose one streak at the right time. They opened conference play with a three game winning streak. First they destroyed Colorado Northwestern 103-69 on Tuesday afternoon. Then they took out Snow 82-67 on Friday night followed by a 71-65 win over Salt Lake on Saturday night.
On Tuesday, CNCC tried to find an opening, but whatever they did they were shut down by the Eagles. CEU shot 55 percent from the floor for the game and had CNCC down early. Five Eagles were in double figures in the win and three of them had a double-double night. Vander Valdelicia led the scoring with 19. Nick Thompson added ten. Jonathan Mills hit for 16 points and 12 rebounds. Tony Dalton added 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Michael Glover finished with 10 points and 10 boards.
On Friday against Snow a change in defense by CEU Coach Chris Craig kept Snow from scoring. For the Eagles Mills had another double-double. Dalton and Thompson were top scorers for CEU with 14 apiece.
The game against Salt Lake on Saturday was much tighter. With little time left on the scoreboard, Salt Lake cut the Eagle lead down to two.
CEU's Nick Thompson stepped up and hit a pair of free throws to ice up the third win in a row for the Eagles. Isiah Williams stepped up and led the team with 19 points and Dalton and Glover added 11 for the final.
Northern Idaho will put the streak to the test on Friday night at the BDAC. NIC is 2-0 in conference play and 8-0 on the season.
That game will follow the Women's game at 7 p.m.
On Saturday CEU will take on Southern Idaho in another home game with game time at 5 p.m.
