Giving tree helps local kids in foster care

The Utah Foster Care Foundation is asking groups and residents to help brighten the holidays for children in foster care who live in Carbon and Emery Counties. The foundation is partnering with the K-mart to sponsor a Giving Tree. Shoppers can donate K-mart gift cards to be used by local children living in foster families.

There are 80 children in foster care in Carbon and Emery counties. "Many of the children and teens in care have been removed from their biological homes because of neglect or abuse," says Kobi Marchello, the foundation's foster/adoptive parent recruiter for eastern Utah. "Christmas can be a difficult time for them. "

For details, go to www.utahfostercare.org or contact kobi.marchello@utahfostercare.org or 435-636-0210 or toll-free 877-506-4666.

The Utah Foster Care Foundation serves Utah's children by finding, educating and nurturing families to meet the needs of children in foster care.
