The CEU men's basketball team took a small squad up to Powell, WY to play in the First National Bank Shootout.
Keeping faithfull to their win loss pattern the Eagles beat Sheridan 85-75 and then lost the next day 78-74 to northwestern Wyoming in their third meeting of the season.
With many of their teammates out with illness only nine member boarded the bus for the long drive and the first game on Friday Nov 20.
Even short handed CEU started the tournament off with a 10 point win over the Generals from Sheridan College. With a limited team, Coach Craig was forced to use a seven player rotation. Five CEU players scored in double figures.
Nick Thompson was solid and led the team with 21 points. Isiah Williams put up 15.
Jonathan Mills recorded another double/double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. He just missed a triple double as he was nine for 10 from the line. Tony Dalton had a 12 point game and Cliff Colomon added 11.
CEU had to face Northwest Wyoming for the third time this preseason. For the second time in a row the Eagles dropped a close one to them. Already shorthanded on personnel, CEU struggled with foul trouble and turnovers. Isiah Williams was the leading scorer with 31.
Jonathan Mills continued his strong performance with another double/double. He put up 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Eagles had a conference matchup on Tuesday with no scores available atpress time.
They will head to take on Snow in a conference match up on Friday and then board the bus to Salt Lake for another conference game on Saturday.
