The CEU Golden Eagle basketball team have started the season with a pattern of win one, lose one.

They are 2-2 on the season so far. This week the win came against the Salt Lake Metro All-Stars and the loss came against Northwestern Wyoming.

The Eagles dominated the all-stars with a 112-63 drubbing on Wednesday night. On Saturday, the team fell behind early and never quite caught up with Wyoming, losing 83-77 in front of the home crowd.

On Wednesday the Metro all-stars did not put up much defense to the red hot Eagles. CEU was hitting 68 percent from the floor in the first half alone. Six Eagles were in double figures on the night. Renan Custodio lead the offensive show with 18 points. Michael Glover stuffed in 17, Jonathan Mills had 16, Jorquim Vander scored 14, Tony Dalton added 12 and Chris Mast had 11. Vander pulled in 11 rebounds as well. The team also picked the pocket of the All-Stars 14 times.

But Saturday's match-up proved to be a bit tougher on the team. Mills lead the scoring effort with 24 points and 19 rebounds to lead his team. Isiah William added 11 and was 3-4 from beyond the three point line.

The Eagles out rebounded Wyoming 47-22 and both teams hit 25-33 from the line. But from the floor it was Wyoming out-shooting CEU 51 percent to 37 percent that made the difference. It was slow start for the home town boys that really hurt them. They were behind 41-34 at the break. CEU came out in the second half and matched their opponents, but were not able to dig themselves out of the first half deficit.

This weekend the team will be up in Montana for a pair of games against Western Montana and a rematch with Northwestern Wyoming. Conference play will begin on Tuesday Nov. 24 at home against Colorado Northwestern at 7 p.m. The women will play before starting at 5:30 p.m. on the same night.
