Anthony G. Douros
HELPER - Anthony G. (Tony) Douros 1922 to 2009 Tony Douros fell asleep in Christ Oct. 2, 2009 with the love of his family surrounding him, due to a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Tony was born in Helper, to Gus and Crissoula Douros May 6, 1922. The eldest of five children, he grew up in the mining town of Kenilworth, where he learned the value of family, friends and hard work. As a young man Tony worked at the local company store to help his family pull through the tough times in the 1930s. He joined the U.S. Army in 1943, serving proudly in the Chief Surgeon's office. As Tony traveled to his assignment he had a chance meeting with a young lady, Cathrine Todoulakis.
After three years of daily correspondence, she became the love of his life. This was and truly is "the marriage that was created in heaven."
Tony retired from the Utah Department of Transportation after 38 years of loyal service. Tony was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian. He served his church faithfully in many capacities. He touched many people and brought joy and happiness to whomever he met. He was sincerely generous and helpful without any need for recognition.
