The Carbon boy's golf team finished up region play at Eastbay on Thursday taking third place. This was the home course for ALA. The Dinos had four players in the 70s, but it still wasn't enough to move them up. Jordan Pinedo shot a 76 to lead the team. Justin Child finished with a 77, with Corbin Black and Jaren McCourt both posted 79s.

This was the final Region match of the year and Carbon finished second in the region standings. The final region standings were Park City 1,776, Carbon 1,885, Wasatch 1,938, Union 1,941 and Ala with no team scores, only individuals.

Coach Tony Pinedo was impressed because region 10 is the strongest region in the state for golf and it is the first time Carbon competed against these strong teams in region play. Other Dinos also had some good finishes. Corbin Black ended in 11th place and Justin Child and Jaren McCourt were tied for 14th in the region individual standings.

Carbon had one last match scheduled on Wednesday, Sept. 30, with Union and Uintah. They call it the Eastern Utah Cup and it was changed from Uintah to Carbon where it was originally scheduled to be played because of some difficulties with their golf course. Results of that match were not available at press time and will be posted when they are in.

Carbon's final match of the year will be at the State Tournament on Oct. 7 and 8 at Schneiter's Bluff, located in West Point.
