The Lady Dino Volleyball team beat the region team that they felt might be their biggest threat to ending the Dino winning steak. Wasatch is ranked number five in 3A for the state.

In a hard fought, five set match, Carbon came out on the winning end 21-25, 26-24, 26-24, 22-25 and 15-13 to stay undefeated again in region play. Carbon started slow and let game one slip away. They got behind early and every time they made a run at it, the Wasps pulled away. In game two it was the Lady Dinos who jumped out first.

Wasatch got back in and it was a seesaw affair with Carbon taking the match.

Game three was Wasatch on top first, but the seesaw action continued. Again the Dinos were triumphant. With a chance to put it away, Carbon fell short and let Wasatch rule the tempo and take the win. But Carbon knew the winning streak was on the line and with everything they had, they put the Wasps on the rope early.

Wasatch would not concede and made it a nail biter, but in the end the set and match went to the Dinos.

The time for the match was over two hours and one of the officials said it was the longest high school volleyball match they had ever officiated.

Shaylee Donathan dished out 25 set assists and Alexis Oliver directed 23 of them to steer the offense. Sam Olson was hot with 20 defensive digs to keep the defense solid. Joy Malone was again a force on the net as she slammed 32 kills in the match.

Coach Bob Potts was thrilled with his team's efforts. He credited the whole team for the win. He said he used eleven girls in the match and that all eleven were a big part in the win. They play ALA on the road on Thursday and will be at the halfway point on region action. They get to finish up region play with home games and Potts is happy with the advantage that should give them down the home stretch.
