The all star team has gone to California and while the competition there is stiff both the coaches and team hope that the season will end with a highlight.
It was a heart breaking five to four loss for the Cal Ripken Price North team. But they have been there before. During the state tournament they lost their second game and were only able to claim the title after a five game winning streak.
The team is in Fresno for the Pacific region tournament and the winner advances to the Cal Ripkin World Series in the 12 and under division. So even though it was a tough way to open things, they are not hanging their heads just yet.
Price North actually out hit their opponent from Bullard California in the opening match-up Tuesday night, only allowing their opponents three hits for the night while blasting nine of their own. But it was the two out batter that killed, because nine Price runners were left stranding on base costing them the game.
"One bad inning." was how assistant Coach Bob Fossatt summed it up. "It hurt, when we really outplayed them all night. But we are not out yet. We play at 3:00 pm this (Wednesday) afternoon, but we don't know who it is yet." he said. "We will wrap it up on Saturday. The team played well and knows how to bounce back after a loss so I still feel really positive about things."
