Try-outs on Tuesday and a tournament on Saturday left little time for the Price American Legion team to find its feet. But even so they won their first and last games in a five game tournament in Rangely Colorado.
Coach Willie Ellington gave a quick summary of the tournament. The team opened with a game against Coal Ridge out of Hodgekiss CO, with a 12 to three win. Price lost the next three. Eagleville pounded them with a 18 to one loss. Then Coal Ridge handed them a 10 to two defeat. And finally they lost 13 to three against a team of college players called the Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) scout team. These players are being recruited by CNCC for next season.
Price finished up with a 22 to nine win against Moab. Moab was ahead eight to zero in the fourth, when the Price bats came alive. In the end Price finished strong and won the game.
Ellington had plenty of praise for his team, " Joe Lopez hit a blast in the first game that was great. Max Misner, Tyson Dameron, Johnathan Garcia, Levi Graff and Nicco Vasquez all had great games.
The team hits the road again this weekend for a tournament in Rock Springs Wyoming.
