Carbon's Daniel Peczuh jumps as an Emery player comes sliding into base at the game in Castle Dale on Tuesday.
The up and down season for the Dino baseball squad continues. Tuesday was one of the down days as Carbon lost 12-2 to the Emery Spartans.
Missed opportunities was how Coach Troy Moynier described the game.
"We left a lot of runners on base," he said. "We didn't get the hits when we had the chance. We would get runners on second and third and need just one more hit and we couldn't get it."
Carbon did score first with a pair of runs in the second. They even limited the Spartans to score in only two innings. But two was all the Spartans needed as Emery blasted six runs in the third and six in the sixth.
Josh Denison hit the only extra base hit for the Dinos with a double. Gage Bigelow took the loss on the mound for Carbon.
After losing to the number two team in the region, the Dinos are finishing things up by playing the number one and number three teams. They head to Juan Diego on Thursday (today) and play Salem Hills at home on Monday. The Salem Hills game is a make-up game for one postponed earlier.
Currently the Dinos sit comfortably in fourth in region play. It will be hard to make a move into third at this stage, but a couple of wins for Carbon and some losses for Salem Hills and it can happen.
