The Manti-La Sal National Forest is still seeking applicants to serve on the agency's resource advisory committee.
Unfortunately, potential applicants are apparently having trouble obtaining the RAC applications forms and information online.
All United States National Forest websites are currently down and undergoing repairs.
Applications are available at any Manti-La Sal National Forest Office and at Carbon, Emery, Grand, San Juan and Sanpete county commission offices.
Residents who prefer a digital application may contact Rosann Fillmore at 636-3525.
Completed application forms must be received at the Manti-La Sal National Forest, 599 W. Price River Drive, Price, UT 84501, before 5 p.m. on May 1.
The forms must contain an original signature.
The RAC members will work with the U.S. Forest Service to recommend proposed land management projects on or adjacent to the Manti-La Sal.
The projects are funded by appropriations to the involved counties from title two secure rural schools monies.
Title two money is reserved for land management projects.
RAC members will only make recommendations regarding land projects.
The RAC panel will consist of 15 members and three non-voting alternates representing a wide range of interests.
Members would serve four years upon appointment by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.
Committee members serve without compensation, but may be reimbursed for travel expenses.
Candidates must be Utah residents, preferably living in Carbon, Emery, Grand, San Juan and Sanpete counties. Members are expected to serve four years.
Meetings are conducted at least once during the year. Alternates attend all meetings and are prepared to fill a permanent position if a vacancy occurs.
The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture will make RAC appointments based on the applications.
