Lady Dinos continue their winning ways

Carbon High's Brittany Stefanoff eyes a good pitch from Emery's pitcher in their win last week. She and the Lady DInos continued to hit the ball well as they beat Delta 9-2 this week as well.

A long road trip to Delta was worth it for the Lady Dino Softball squad as they downed the Rabbits 9-2. Then win moved them one game out of first place just under Delta and Salem Hills who remain undefeated in region play.

Carbon scored in the first and then allowed Delta an unearned run in the bottom half on the inning to tie it up. It remained knotted until the fourth when the Dinos exploded for six and never looked back. The Rabbits put one up in the bottom of the fourth, but Carbon added their final two in the fifth and cruised to their second straight win.

Kenzie Cave recorded the win and helped her cause with a double. Kylee Lessar also added a two bagger. Brianne Vogrinic had a big offensive game with a pair of doubles to be a part of the Dinos scoring effort.

Coach Tony Pinedo is optimistic about the team's ability to compete with the region leaders. "If we play good defense and are aggressive, but patient at the plate we can beat the teams we need to. I have to give the credit to my assistant coaches though, Kirk Nunley and Paige Pinedo, they are really making a difference to our young players."

The Dinos will resume play next week after spring break with a Tuesday home game against Juan Diego at 3:30.
