For those who are new to the area or have registered to play Babe Ruth baseball this year, tryouts are this Saturday at the Babe Ruth Field in the Toy Atwood Baseball Complex in north Price.
Every player that has registered must attend to be placed on a team. Officials ask that players bring their mitts and bat, wear the right shoes or cleats and dress appropriately for the weather that day.
The "Draft" will be conducted the evening after tryouts. Players will be contacted by the manager or coach of the team they will be placed on by the next day.
League officials say it is their focus to make every team as equal as possible and to provide a fun experience for all the players. Every player will make a team.
The try-out schedule for 13 year olds will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., for 14 year olds from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and for 15 years olds from 11 a.m. to noon. Officials ask that players arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for warm up and sign in.
Preseason games will begin in the first or second week of April. League play begins on May 2. Team pictures will be taken before games are played on that day. Opening ceremonies will be held.
Some preseason and regular season games will be played in Huntington, Castle Dale and Green River, but the majority of games will be played in Price.
The deadline for registration was March 13, but players who are new to the area can show up the day of tryouts.
The league is also looking for coaches, umpires, team score keepers, raffle workers, fund raisers and those who may want to help clean up the field and handle concessions.
